I read the electronic version of this book. I found this book to be not only enjoyable but filled with good practical ideas for reusing items on the Homestead. You will find ideas here that will make you say, "well thats just common sense" to "Why didn't I think of that?". I took special note on how to scrounge up pallets and buckets and the myriad ways of using them. But the most important thing I believe this book accomplishes is implanting the thought process that I do not have to buy into all the commercial hype out there to be a successful homesteader. I can repurpose items from many different areas and successfully accomplish my goals from gardening to raising small animals for food with very little investment other than time. Jason has done a great job of not only implanting that mindset but also setting you on the path of just how many different ways these repurposed items can be used.
I was looking for a book of projects. This was not it at all. Most of the book explains where to find specific types of junk.
Not a bad book, has some good ideas, however there is very little explanation on most projects. Pictures lack step by step instruction and are usually just finished product.
The photography isn't great but the ideas in the book will more than pay for the cost. I'm saving it for reference.

I can appreciate the spirit of this book. As a country-dweller, I am always looking for ways to save money and still meet the needs of my garden and livestock. I like the idea of reusing, recycling and re-purposing items that might end up as waste or in a landfill. Jason Akers offers great advice on obtaining and integrating these items into a self-sufficient homestead. This book will definitely be a keeper in my reference library.
